What is our Organization?
Belleville Sister Cities, Inc. is an organization
which, working with our sister organization in
Paderborn, Germany, keeps up a friendly and
collaborative contact with like-minded German
people. Besides, we also have:
-
Meetings which often include German food
-
A yearly German dinner (with German music)
-
Dances (did we mention German music?)
-
Youth exchanges in the summer
-
Occasional attempts to speak German (badly in
some cases)
If you are interested in Germany, German culture and
our national German heritage contact us today to
learn more about what we offer to the community.
We're always happy to see new faces, and would love
to welcome you to our meetings and activities!
General meetings are held
quarterly (February, May, August and November). As a
member, you will be notified by mail as to
when and where the meetings will take place.
Mayor Eckert über das Buch in einer
Message to Sister Cities: "Not only does the City of
Belleville appreciate this wonderful book about the
Belleville/Paderborn partnership, I appreciate Mr.
Schuette being the catalyst for getting the two
sister cities together".
Our Mission:
Belleville Sister Cities, Inc. has been established
to promote Cultural, Social and Business Exchanges
with the citizens of our "Sister City" Paderborn,
Germany. It also gives us the vehicle to foster
additional interests in the rich German heritage of
our area. Membership is available and promoted to
all area residents with the common interest of
nurturing the fellowship of the society and the good
of the community. Numerous benefits are available to
all members. These include:
-
the opportunity to bring "Gemuetlichkeit"
by participation in cultural exchanges
-
to attend
planned and spontaneous social functions
-
to offer
their hearts and homes during exchange visits
-
to participate actively to improve the many programs
which the organization undertakes and sponsors
In
short, to become a "Belleville Good Will
Ambassador."
In return, the German-American
Friendship Committee in Paderborn (Deutsche-Amerikanischer
Freundeskreis), as newly found friends and citizens
of Paderborn, invite and welcome your participation
and visits to their proud and historic land.

Three High School students from Belleville traveled to our sister city Paderborn / Germany in June for a 6 weeks' stay. Last year students from Paderborn had come here for a longer stay. Now the Belleville students answered to the exchange. They accompanied their German hosts to attend school, during the Paderborn holidays starting at the end of June they were involved in many activities organized by their host families and the German-American Friendship Society Paderborn-Belleville.
